Coping meganism

Some fear or doubt their own feelings. Whereupon they look for flaws in the other,
as an excuse not to become too intimate- or as an aid to distance themselves-
whereupon they realize, that the flaws do not lie in the other,
but can be found within themselves.

Author's Note
I think we all encounter them, the people who reflect the other but are not capable of self-reflection. I had a friend. He was heartbroken, it turned out. Did everything he could to find an excuse (a flaw inside me) to create distance, to be able to say to himself that the distance created was not his fault. Where that was actually the case.

I confronted him with his behavior and told him what it did to me, whereupon he concluded that his behavior was not justified, he was not over his broken heart at all. He's still a best friend.
