I Still Bleed Blue

I had my heart broken so many times,
A couple of times I shed some tears,
I’ve waited thirty-two years for this,
Now the moment is finally here.

I first fell in love with the Dodgers,
Way back in 1984,
For a ten-year old it was a passion,
Something I never felt before.

Then a couple of years later,
They brought the trophy home,
’88 was a memorable season,
An elation I had never known.

There were so many ups and downs,
Seasons of heart breaks and close calls,
“Next year” seemed to go on forever,
Only to feel sad the following fall.

I loved to hear Vin Scully call the games,
His voice always took me back,
It seems as if I got stuck in time,
As years flew by, I guess I lost track.

Now that I’m three decades older,
The kid in me is shedding a tear,
I can finally celebrate,
I still bleed blue,
2020 is our year.
