Expecting Rain
I'm up on the stage as the clouds roll in
Throw my hands to the heavens
Let the rains wash away my sins
Pick up my guitar and play a few notes
Pulling from the paper the words that I wrote
I fooled myself into thinking I had control
Then the boat started rocking and the ocean started to roll
Made a deal with the devil and lost my soul
Now I'm waiting on the rain
Chorus::
Blinding lightning and rhythmic thunder
Gale force winds and torrential rain
Sometimes to keep your sanity
You need a hurricane
In a world that's so surreal
Where your lyrics make you an open page
Everyone knows how you feel
Sometimes you need a hurricane
I'm always expecting rain
Can't see the stars for the thunder clouds
Can't hear my conscience for the raucous crowds
I can see the devil when I look in their eyes
I can hear him whispering through the guitar's cries
The lightning flashes and the drummer sets the beat
Not a solitary soul remains in their seat
Find myself screaming naked in the middle of the street
I'm waiting on the rain
Chorus
Sitting on the bus heading for another town
The world is silent with no one around
The words flow through me onto the written page
Expressing my emotions, both the joy and the rage
The band is sleeping and the sky is clear
And it will stay that way till the show is near
The size of the storm rests upon my fears
And I'm always expecting rain
Throw my hands to the heavens
Let the rains wash away my sins
Pick up my guitar and play a few notes
Pulling from the paper the words that I wrote
I fooled myself into thinking I had control
Then the boat started rocking and the ocean started to roll
Made a deal with the devil and lost my soul
Now I'm waiting on the rain
