Promise- poem 10 of 10 in 'Letter of Affliction'
To our future,
The essence of wonder,
Our prospect of pride.
The reviver of faith.
I promise to build strength.
Though my body weakened,
Diseased and defective,
I will rise.
I promise to heal my body and soul.
Though my illness lurks,
And terrors befriend deformity,
I will contend.
I promise to wait.
Though I have not met you,
My love is infinite,
I will persist.
My eyes have not seen you.
My lips have not kissed you.
My nose has not smelled your pollen.
My skin has not caressed you.
My breast have not feed you.
My womb has not housed you.
My uterus has not created perfection.
Our bodies have not become one.
Longing fuels our affections,
Unending and timeless.
You are destined,
And I promise to wait.
