Arachnid  V the conker

Some things attract and some repel
now listen to my gruesome tale
with hairy legs they lurk ensconced
and who can guess there inner wants

To scare us witless seems their plan
and what defence can we command
now old wives know a thing or two
and pass there secrets on to you

For you must seek the woods and forage
amongst the deciduous giants of the forest
as they rain their fruit upon the ground
and happy children all surround

For they seek the shining orb
for game and sport when they are bored
in spikey shell that is its husk
split open by just gravity's thrust

So be quick and gather each
for their power is discrete
take them home and reek revenge
the thing that makes arachnid's cringe

No science can explain its power
the humble conker shines,
save you at the eleventh hour
for that's my web; am I unkind ?
