Into Stone
The still night cracks, with a lethal bolt
Striking an ancient oak, with a single jolt
Splitting it down, clean to its core
Taking down a giant, till it ain't no more
On a lonely crest, of a lonely hill
No one to remember it, so no one will
Time moves on, for all the rest
Time moves on, it's our final test
Chorus:
Oh. I'm not going down easy
And I'm not going down alone
Going to make my mark for the world to see
I'm going to carve it into stone
It's more than being remembered
It's a difference that needs to be made
If you're going to make a difference
Then you have to make a change
A disheveled man, without a hope
A forgotten soldier, at the end of his rope
Still fighting a war, inside his own head
Living on a deserted street, till he ends up dead
We see it in our cities, and we see it every day
They fought for our country, then we throw them all away
There's so much we can do, but the politics just says no
Gotta make a change to the heart, we need to make it so
Chorus
Some fought in the jungle, some fought in the desert sand
They survived every battle, to be ignored in their home land
Republicans say they love them, Democrats say the same
To the veterans it's their lives, to politicians it's just a game
Chorus
If we want to make a difference
Then we have to make a change
Striking an ancient oak, with a single jolt
Splitting it down, clean to its core
Taking down a giant, till it ain't no more
On a lonely crest, of a lonely hill
