Darkness and Light
I've seen the sunrise
New light bringing new life
Renewing tired eyes
It brings me peace of mind
The dark of night
Brings unblinking self perusal
Uncompromising and uncomfortable
It makes me weak with sadness
At what I have become
But the new day brings hope
That old mistakes are not what
Defines me
And I can screw up the guts
To get on with it
Each new day a fresh new start
Mine to make into whatever my heart Desires
Beginnings that always lead me back
To darkness
The seasons of my soul are much
Too short
