lime cay fisherman

“There is a fine line between fishing and just standing on
the shore like an idiot.” —Steven Wright

his night catch fed
the village
lean dogs devoured
the spillage
of fins and guts
from kosher cuts
served up with nuts
and spinach

his years upon
the ocean
true fisherman’s
devotion!
each dreadful night
a gallant fight
bloodied by tight
emotion

they fished him up
this morning
no limbs his trunk
adorning
a fisher fished
gutted and dished
a village pitched
in mourning
