Flood

Low hangs the moon over the trees tonight
Bathing the forest in it's brilliant grey light
I lie still beneath the starless sky
As a rain drop falls into my eye
A thunderous boom rings out from above
I await the storm I've been dreaming of
The sky bursts open and the rains pour down
My naked body lay drenched on the ground
I watch as the lightning illuminates a cloud
Opening my mouth, I scream aloud
To my surprise, not a sound comes out
Suddenly I'm renewed with dread and doubt
What is this thing I've come to be?
An empty shell of what once was me
My head starts to sink into the mud
Please wash me away within this flood
For I am nothing but fury and pain
Wishing to be drowned within the icy rain...
