I don't know how they make
crumpets, but I love how, when
toasted, the butter slowly sinks in and then drips down my shirt

Oh GOD I miss English butter and toasting bread! I found a little bakery that makes English toasting bread here and damn if it didn't close due to covid-19. But the butter, I've never really been able to replace that.
