Thoughts of you sweet filled
The lonely hours of my night
You who stir my imagination so well
Brash and sweet, saucy and alluring
In truth
All my heart has sought
Have pity on a dreamer and don't mock
But with patience read my words

I have borne the thought since morning
Of you and I rising from a lovers bed
Still sleepy from the waking
Seeing you as you truly are
Without make-up and hair undone

Stepping out on the deck of a cabin
By a clear blue lake
As the sun climbing rose colored skies
First tops the trees
You and I wrapped only in a blanket
Clasped shut with your hands
Your body leaning back into mine
Encircled within my arms
Your hair soft against my skin
Your body warm as the coming sun

What quiet words we might say
In the solitude of dawn
I do not know
But it is in my heart
That we find a way to that day
And what could words say more
Than the feeling of being alone with you
The scent of your hair in the fresh morning breeze
Highlighted with sunlit glints of gold
The taste of your skin
As I gently kiss your cheek
Your eyes closing with a smile
Beneath a cloudless sky
The sun warm on our faces in the promise of a new day
A new beginning

Sometimes such things are witnessed
Among bird songs and wild flowers
Or so I have imagined in my heart today
As I've missed your touch
And in thinking of you
Have dreamed of what may be
