forum post in How might we decide if eating animals ....

Because when we evolved, our ability to kill with our hands and the tools we were smart enough to make had made fangs and claws obsolete. Our higher intelligence made it possible for us to outsmart out prey, so we didn't need to bite them to death or hold on to them and shred off their skin while they bled to death.
It's not like pulling fruit off a tree and peeling it requires talons and razor sharp teeth. Apes evolved from a common ancestor, so did Neanderthals and all of us have common characteristics, even though none of us are descended from the other. Our genetics have already provin what was previously scientific theory. I know some will argue against it, but the genetic markers don't lie. This is how we know that all people came out of Africa and the physical changes that have developed over the past 50,000 years are the result of three things, sunlight, environment and food sources. The shape of our eyes, the color of our skin, the size of our lips, our feel, hands, hair, every little thing that is different from our African ancestors has been accounted for and documented. We eat meat because whatever we were before we were humans ate meat.

For all you religious folk, Darwin didn't create evolution, God created an ingenious genetic code that allowed all life to adapt and conform to its surroundings. I always wonder why some people think that God wasn't smart enough to make such things, but was just smart enough to create life that would remain stagnant and then allow to devil to manipulate fossils to fool the humans into believing things that genetics are now proving or supporting. Apparently, the devil is even smarter than God, because he was not only able to create all sorts of physical evidence all over the world, and make it look older than it really is, and make it different at deeper levels of rock and sediment, and do it all just perfectly so that no matter where on Earth we look, all the fossil remains consistently show the same age and similar levels of life...
I mean, I could go on and on with this. If the devil can do it, so can God. God, if he exists, and if he is a he or he is a she or has no sexual orientation at all, was brilliant enough to create life and all the Universe, but fell short on evolution. I'm just not buying that. And every physical piece of evidence of life on Earth has fallen in line, that is why science is accepted curriculum in schools, because the amount of evidence is on a colossal scale that we now have the ability to see in the genetic map, never mind radiation levels that allow us to date and compare with where things are in the layers of the Earth.
So yes, God could have designed life and just not bothered to tell us. Why would he, we weren't there to see it and he has more important things to tell us about that every last bit of universal history.

Now eat your meat, you can't have any pudding if you don't eat your meat....

Pardon the forum postings, but I know not everybody reads those and sometimes I say something I want to save, so here is one I feel strongly about.
