Reckoning
Do not fear the shadow of night
Rather the darkness within.
That which we choose to hide,
The nature of our sin.
Destruction and chaos rules our lives
But no one ever learns.
Day after day destroying our world Brings closer the day we will burn.
Kings living the golden life
While people die in the streets.
Others hungry, diseased, and broken
No food, no shoes on their feet.
People everywhere declaring war Fighting for reasons unknown,
A political choice, religious voice,
The prize each man's alone.
Lawless men running our streets
On the corners with a fix,
Reminiscent of the Man in Black Upon the River Styx.
Our children become victims
Sacrificed by man.
A generation who will never grow
A demon's diabolic plan.
We choose not to love each other Because of the color of our skin.
Only seeing the outside
Instead of the beauty within.
Technology crosses moral lines
Of life decided by man,
Breaking all the natural laws Just because we can.
Our land cries out poisoned and weak Yet we choose not to hear.
As icebergs melt and forests burn
No one sheds a tear.
It is a time of reckoning
And still we have not learned.
To continue to exist Is a right that we must earn.
Rather the darkness within.
That which we choose to hide,
The nature of our sin.
Destruction and chaos rules our lives
But no one ever learns.
Day after day destroying our world Brings closer the day we will burn.
Kings living the golden life
