Would it be vulgar to ask who this poem is about? Either way, it’s a good distillation of a thought I had recently about how even if you read someone’s memoirs you might never get the truth of who they were, as even the most honest of us edit our lives based on what hurts or comforts us to recall.

Well if there are war-time broadcasts it can't be Samuel Pepys, or Samuel Johnson. Churchill? (he wrote one poem, I think)
