Cape Town "Bergies"
Hopelessness, hurt - you've lost all shame
You turn to your Maxy when the raw realization
Comes as you realize your life is no game.
It's become part of your culture, part of your nation.
I hear the tears in your voice,
All the tears you forgot how to shed
I never thought about the reasons of your choice,
That you go home to no home, no bed.
As you stand in line to pay for some more,
As you take your Maxy and head out the door,
As you lift your face and our eyes meet,
I suddenly wonder if you ever eat.
