Within The Recesses: He, Me, Enemy
All-consuming pain has me on my back
red in tooth and claw; always on the attack
Cynicism like knives that stab into the wise
Dialating my eyes as I choose fight o'er flight
This disposition
just a three year-old disguise
or is this who I have become
Self-isolated in these confines
The dark recesses of my mind
those corners and cracks where I find no warmth or light
Entrapment is temporary; self-fulfilling
Enraptured and sustained by memory
Of times when I loved myself
Before I treated he as enemy
red in tooth and claw; always on the attack
Cynicism like knives that stab into the wise
Dialating my eyes as I choose fight o'er flight
This disposition
just a three year-old disguise
or is this who I have become
Self-isolated in these confines
The dark recesses of my mind
those corners and cracks where I find no warmth or light
Entrapment is temporary; self-fulfilling
Enraptured and sustained by memory
Of times when I loved myself
Before I treated he as enemy
