Pearl Fishing
I breathe deeply and dive.
Deep breath before the plunge.
Pearl fishing on a quiet night.
Like tonight. Swimming down deeper
Into the ocean.
Below me lays the bottom.
Below me lays the bed.
Ears muffled.
Pressure builds inside my head.
Moonlight plays above. On still waters.
My goal, a mussel, an oyster, a pearl.
To be strung together for my girl
Waiting silently above me.
I find my quarry. I use skill and dexterity.
And the pearl is mine.
Deep breath before the plunge.
Pearl fishing on a quiet night.
Like tonight. Swimming down deeper
Into the ocean.
Below me lays the bottom.
Below me lays the bed.
Ears muffled.
Pressure builds inside my head.
Moonlight plays above. On still waters.
My goal, a mussel, an oyster, a pearl.
To be strung together for my girl
Waiting silently above me.
I find my quarry. I use skill and dexterity.
And the pearl is mine.
