The Song of Loneliness
You find me waiting
At the end of your long day
Standing at your door
An unwelcome guest
That comes when you're all alone
To entertain you
You never like me
I do not make you feel good
I tear at your heart
I don't make you laugh
I never make you happy
I only bring tears
To roll down your face
On your solitary nights
When I'm too intense
Most people hate me
For my lingering presence
In their lonely life
I am like a cloud
That hangs heavy in the air
Even on bright days
Some people drown me
In bottles of alcohol
So they can't feel me
Others turn to drugs
To get rid of my presence
Just to feel happy
They don't understand
My silent, gloomy nature
Cos they evade me
They don't want to know
The place where I have come from
Which is in their minds
It's how you see me
That will make all the difference
In your loneliness
You can ignore me
Only think of happy thoughts
That will make you smile
At the end of your long day
Standing at your door
An unwelcome guest
That comes when you're all alone
To entertain you
You never like me
I do not make you feel good
I tear at your heart
I don't make you laugh
I never make you happy
I only bring tears
To roll down your face
On your solitary nights
When I'm too intense
Most people hate me
For my lingering presence
In their lonely life
I am like a cloud
That hangs heavy in the air
Even on bright days
Some people drown me
In bottles of alcohol
So they can't feel me
Others turn to drugs
To get rid of my presence
Just to feel happy
They don't understand
My silent, gloomy nature
Cos they evade me
They don't want to know
The place where I have come from
Which is in their minds
It's how you see me
That will make all the difference
In your loneliness
You can ignore me
Only think of happy thoughts
That will make you smile
