New World Innocence
New World Innocence
Miles of smiles we shared
Along the pathways through time
When our love was young
In the photo, she gazes with newborn innocence
That gave our love the hope it needed
While the land stretches out like a myth
Upon which we dream our history
Like the rise of the earth so like a mountain
Yet not high enough to see into the heart of fate
Where lies her hilly breasts that will be leveled
To prevent an avalanche of tears
And even deny the reaper his grim harvest
For grandchildren to know her
As more than a photograph
And remember the life she held onto
Until new life beckoned
From a shore big as the Texan forest
Shown suspended in her timeless eyes
Still frame from the movie of her life
Where her ageless morning sings of love
Miles of smiles we shared
Along the pathways through time
When our love was young
In the photo, she gazes with newborn innocence
That gave our love the hope it needed
While the land stretches out like a myth
Upon which we dream our history
Like the rise of the earth so like a mountain
Yet not high enough to see into the heart of fate
Where lies her hilly breasts that will be leveled
To prevent an avalanche of tears
And even deny the reaper his grim harvest
For grandchildren to know her
As more than a photograph
And remember the life she held onto
Until new life beckoned
From a shore big as the Texan forest
Shown suspended in her timeless eyes
Still frame from the movie of her life
Where her ageless morning sings of love
