Beautiful Creatures
Beautiful creatures practice restrain,
They raise a hand only when they have something to say,
They know that it is not violence that validates one’s claim to being a man,
They are man enough by just showing that they care.
Beautiful creatures practice restrain,
They don’t fear losing power by empowering HER,
They listen for they know she might have something better to say,
They speak softly, gently and in words that show that they are not scared
Of the power she has when she breaks free from the grip of his chains,
Beautiful creatures practice restrain,
They gravitate towards goodness for they know its opposite brings pain,
They don’t insult HER soon after they say hey,
Or make vile jokes that demean her,
They reflect dignity for it is the fabric that makes real man.
Beautiful creatures practice restrain,
For they know that not all urges should be fed,
They don’t reduce HER to a punching bag,
Or a log to scratch when the itch becomes hard to bear,
They understand, that the system was designed to limit her worth
And therefore fight the system with and for HER,
They worship at HER feet for it is the reverence she deserves
Beautiful creatures don’t always have to practice restrain,
They don’t have to disrespect HER in the first place,
They don’t think of HER with intention to harm,
Their thoughts are those of equality,
They know she can equally harm HIM,
For the same blood they both bleed
But always she chooses not to: Why?
Because she is strong and knows her worth
Beautiful creatures know that gender based violence
Is a war against humanity and will do everything
To bring it to an end because it is what beautiful creatures do.
The question is what kind of creature are you?
They raise a hand only when they have something to say,
They know that it is not violence that validates one’s claim to being a man,
They are man enough by just showing that they care.
