EVERYTHING I NEED TO KNOW I LEARNED FROM BOB DYLAN
when i was
fourteen years old
i listened to bob dylan’s
greatest hits
every day
for months –
that same record
sat spinning on the turntable
my parents bought me
the christmas before
until i’d memorized
every nuanced growl
and twang,
every wail
and tender nasal moan
and knew in my heart
that the answer, my friend,
is a-blowin’
in the wind
and that
once upon a time
she dressed so fine
but most importantly
that i should not feel
so all alone
‘cause
everybody
must
get
stoned
