Coming down

I can always tell you’re near.
 The smell gives you away.
 You rustle behind the clouds,
 speaking loudly, Sending a warning.
Cool air begins to blow around.
The trees rock and sway.
I listen for the crack of lighting and boom of thunder.
I welcome you with open arms.
Pushing the curtains aside to open my window,
Waiting to see you fall from the sky.
It’s quiet for a moment, than like a switch you turn on. A blanket soaking the earth with your beauty.
The rhythmic sound sings to my heart.
Every drop has a purpose,
saturating and surrounding.
You and the rain make me feel at home.
