Sweet Muse
Mona Lisa
Venus rising from the foam
To capture that beauty
Which belongs to you alone
The yielding flesh carved from stone
Bernini's fair Persephone
To create the art of you
In a moment which would last forever
The halls of time your beauty to adorn
That men countless years from now
Would gaze in open admiration
Not at the art
But upon you who art inspired
If my hand were firm and eyes as clear
As your supple grace required
That men might wish to know the you
Who fired my soul, sweet muse
Who whispered beauties siren song
And coaxed my ardor's labor
To capture you in light and shadow
As every nuanced curve belongs
And every lock of hair which strayed
Cascading to your breast
Captured as a moment
A vision on which I gazed
And studied at my craft for hours
The art of you
At my easel to give life
Venus rising from the foam
To capture that beauty
Which belongs to you alone
The yielding flesh carved from stone
Bernini's fair Persephone
To create the art of you
In a moment which would last forever
The halls of time your beauty to adorn
That men countless years from now
Would gaze in open admiration
Not at the art
But upon you who art inspired
If my hand were firm and eyes as clear
As your supple grace required
That men might wish to know the you
Who fired my soul, sweet muse
Who whispered beauties siren song
And coaxed my ardor's labor
To capture you in light and shadow
As every nuanced curve belongs
And every lock of hair which strayed
Cascading to your breast
Captured as a moment
A vision on which I gazed
And studied at my craft for hours
The art of you
At my easel to give life
