dawn
the purple dawn rose on my melancholy
she ushered back the night slowly
and I quietly watch as she turn on the lights
the grass glistened from the night's dew
everything looked clean and brand new
I wonder at the morning...her nature
everyday optimistic...a fresh start
so often these days are full of turmoil
I wonder that she still gives me reason to smile
the dawn looked to me with a contemplative look
a wry smile at the corners of her mouth
with hushed tones she spoke...
child of the dawn awaken
be a flower of hope
to an otherwise weary world
in that moment I thought of the homeless lady from the day before
I was touched by her plight I had no money so I prayed
while I sat there someone brought her money and groceries
and like a little child I cried tears of relief
even in a seemingly hopeless world we can still find beauty
