Butterfly Lies
I was taught better; Lie, lie, lie, lie, lie.
But sadly I admit, I could not be that guy.
Your simplistic beauty stunned me,
And that was just to the naked eye.
Your sex appeal was deeper,
Perhaps that's what made me shy.
I caught you stealing a glance,
And yet my confidence raced me by.
Tongue tied in a whirl of stumbling words just to tell you Hi.
You smiled and that was all it took,
to set the mood and rest my mind.
You said, "Hi, my name's Lori, and yes I'd be delighted to have dinner sometime."
Stunned, I replied, "That's quite the introduction. How about dinner at six and perhaps coffee right now?"
Answering, "That'll be just fine."
You took me by the hand,
Leading again, "Starbucks is this way, but you got to stop reading my mind."
