NIGHTENGALE
I want you all to take more than a glance and really look at this picture.
LOOK AT HER.. She is a Badass warrior!
This lady is the face you don't see! Her and all of the front line soldiers battling a war WE are going to win.
She has over 35 years in the medical field and is the person you see when you walk through the Emergency Room doors.
Take a good look at her battle gear. These people are our soldiers damn it! Training for years and with a lifetime of knowledge.
She is the human being who weeds out the bullshit drama and has to make an educated decision of what medical attention you need immediately and what medical issue you have to wait for to be seen for.
Level 1. You will die if she doesn't get you immediately to a trauma Dr. Because you could die at any moment.
Level 2. You are so sick or your symptoms with your stats, ( BP, PR, OX, or Temp. are so severe you cannot wait 5 minutes without medical attention.
At that time she has called the maternity ward, cardiology, psychiatry or the infectious disease that you are a probable threat completely depending on why you came in.
Level 3. You feel sick and don't know what is wrong. While she checks your blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and oxygen level. As you are healthy enough to sit down, you can speak and let her know what brought you in.
Level 4. You have been there every day with the same problem for the last 6 months of the year. Still, they treat you as best they can tell you what they think is wrong and who you need to contact. But, you are back. Contacting no one they advised you to call, the first time you came in, 6 months ago. They will still see you. No matter how many times they have already seen you. Because they are our Healthcare workers. They work in health because they Care.
This particular ER nurse has been working every day, 12-24 hr shifts for the last 6 weeks Because she Cares.
When she actually can go to her home, you would think she would eat, sleep, shower, decompress. Well, she Does not.
She is almost 60 years old. She has 2 children, their significant others, and 7 grandchildren. Her husband is terminally ill. She grocery shops, cleans the house, laundry, garbage… you get the drift
When she does get sleep, food and can use the potty.
It's when her co-workers, the rest of our front line soldiers, pull her out, give her a dark room to sleep for 2 hours. She eats from the lounge, (normally only for the Dr.'s and specialist). Her meal is a fruit, a vegetable, a carb, protein, and coffee. Hydration is her current downfall.
Then back to the battlefield as she pulls the next health care worker off the field and orders them to the darkroom.
Right now they need P.P.E. Masks, gloves, gowns and breathing machines.
Look at her gown. It's wrinkled. She took 5 seconds after leaving a patient to take this picture for us.
She wants us all to know. Most of us are going to be ok. Right now she needs us to stay home if you are not a health care worker, or if it is a feasible option.
She's got us. We are going to Win.
Before you annihilate me to knock me off the soapbox I am on. She asked me to send out this message on this platform. She is a Nightingale. I am a messenger.
Her message is simple: " We have you covered. Stay home. This too shall pass."
My message to everyone. Be safe. Follow the rules you learned in kindergarten. Follow them every day. Abide by the changing rules every day. Say, I love you every chance you get.
I love DUP and our members.
After this is over. Donate whatever you can. Time, food, money, anything to your local nurses, in person. Then you can personally safeguard they'll get the help they Are going to need in the aftermath.
Peace peeps.
