SILENT

They found her sitting
by the edge of the creek
her hair wrapped
around her hand,
although encouraged
she could not speak
for they would
not understand.

The creek was flowing
the air was still
when a sudden breeze
swept over the hill,
bringing with it a
dulled echoing strum
followed by a
low pitched hum.

She stood up slowly
released her hair,
smiled as a gesture
to distant ones there,
without a word
she walked away
being followed by one
who could not stay.
