Roadside Artist

The daisies plied their trade    
And the violets labored in the sun  
While wild roses climbed and toiled    
As the bees hummed and the    
Birds all whistled while they worked    
But it was the daffodils    
Yes, only the daffodils    
Who painted all day    
With their brushstrokes    
Of yellow and green    
And it was they alone    
Who made the roadside    
More beautiful to me

Author's Note
I am the "daffodil king". I plant daffodil bulbs every year. My small farm can not have too many. They are my favorite flower. This is like a classic English poem and it came about when I misread a word from William Shakespeare I decided to write a poem using the word I had mistaken.
