Hidden Pain
Images of the past reflecting in shimmering eyes
A wild animal trapped inside clawing to escape
Needing to lash out,inflicting pain once again
Draining all energy fighting to regain strength
Tiring the suppression of it's raging wrath
The scent of fear triggering a change in power
Bending it's unwilling captive slowly
Clenched teeth hold back a furious scream
Tears silenty spill over flushed cheeks
The captives pain no longer relevant
Protecting all that dwells within her
The nightmare of violence hidden deep
Closing her eyes she sits begging it to stop
His voice cuts through the raging storm
Calming the wild animal with each word
Subduing it's strength as she lays sobbing
Exhaustion from struggling begins to set in
Her sobs quieting as she begins to drift off
He wraps her up in the safety of his arms
Protecting her from any that come near

The struggle to combat and defeat past hurt has/is a constant battle with no way of knowing when it will strike, his unwavering love and support has definitely given me the strength to fight and the attacks are becoming fewer

You have written a magnificent accounting of anxiety and fear and sadness. It’s a dreadful irony when the person who you count on to help one through these struggles is the very person creating all these emotions. Dear H,
That part of my life is well and truly ended thankfully, the pain and anxiety still comes to the surface at times.
I feel truly blessed to have met someone who not only listens so he can understand why and what I am going through but loves and supports me 100% no matter what, he is amazing.
