Prisoners of War
These rings I believed would unite a devotion
Honey if I only could describe how it has divided us
Magnetic lines quivering the grounds we march to
Past wounds never healed surrounding us in mines
Push with words & pull with enmeshed emotions
Trying to get one to cross a line to set off a chain reaction
Hollow points dispensing unresolved memorials
A atmosphere so toxic I wear a gas mask to suspire
Shadows of ourselves have brought us to the darkest hour
I've gained a night vision to perceive in this dark desert storm
As napalm glazed this heavenly sky
Assuming all of these lethal views passing by
This love has turned into the coldest fight in my core
Sirens echoing on this battlefront, my dear We are prisoners of war
Shooting lies grazing the back of our heads to stockpile ammunition
Throwing grenades at each other without pulling the pins
Poisoning water supplies to provide a temporary antidote
Recruiting armies of self hate while sacrificing the truth
Letting sadness be the fuel supply for our tanks
Taking happiness on a personal kamikaze run
Becoming Weapons of our own mass self destruction
If we could vaporize founding fathers with resentment passed on
We have become medics on D-day armed with band aids
While that quicksand engulfs a revolution of liberty
As napalm glazed this heavenly sky
Assuming all of these lethal views passing by
This love has turned into the coldest fight in my core
Sirens echoing on this battlefront, my dear We are prisoners of war
This chemical warfare is eating us from the inside out
Trembling with survivors guilt deep in these trenches
Within this fight you finally found a way to cross that line
My finger on the button I cant dictate a reason to press
Knowledge is power & a solution to put out all the lit fuses
Disarming myself to find a battle worth my own sacrifice
With prayers god can not fix this unholy duel
My tanks empty, mines removed, safeties on
Happiness on standby, I have accepted my purple heart
Discharged of hate & with honor to view the beauty of life
Don't take this white flag & justify to cover it in red
To make my peace a martyr of your internal war
Honey if I only could describe how it has divided us
Magnetic lines quivering the grounds we march to
Past wounds never healed surrounding us in mines
Push with words & pull with enmeshed emotions
Trying to get one to cross a line to set off a chain reaction
