Not autism, close enough
that's gifted, with C-PTSD
I dunno... maybe
How about an extra helping
of being on the outside
loving things found boring
or just too extra bright?
...maybe ADHD
Vaccines, who needs em
when the military says
they damaged Daddy?
inhereted weaknesses
Hospitals for birth?
When you pop
healthy children out
like a toaster strudel
before you could
pack a bag?
Who needs school
when undersized talent
makes such good
punching bags?
Who needs you
when they'd rather
you surrender them
to normal people?

This is a very sad poem to read, Jess.
It is so difficult to be a parent in today's world. It seems the government feels the need to dictate how they should be raised ( outside of protection from abuse, etc. ). Vaccinations have always been a source of contention between vacs and non-vac'sers. I have read horror stories on both sides of the issues; but, thank goodness none of those applied to my family. I was vaccinated and so were my children/grandson. But, I do not judge you for selecting differently for your children. They are your children.
Same with homeschooling. I have family who homeschools, but I never did. Even moving about growing up, changing schools every few years ( except in England, where we lived there the longest period of my childhood ) was a horrible experience in regards to bullying. However, it also taught me a sense of humor to survive and social skills I would not otherwise have. Therefore, I opted to put mine in public school. I honestly can tell no difference at holidays or birthdays when they're all playing together.
Except for dire protection of children, the government should stay out of parenting. Though what is considered 'dire protection' includes vaccination at times.
I do homeschool my grandson, but in the summer to prepare for the upcoming year. He just switched schools this year and the transition was seamless. He loved it.

We have a lot of fears surrounding the crazy, pepped up pressures to parent a certain way.
Unfortunately, we've witnessed too many families targeted over these choices and other honestly innocent choices, sometimes having to tolerate crazy things to get their suddenly shell shocked family put back together.
One gal was freebirthing her kid but didn't have a supportive EMT husband with tons of training including infant CPR .... she was fine... he panicked. She lost her baby and could only get her back if she eschewed all her natural parenting skills, used a crib, everything.
Suddenly, mommy has a "mommy."
Or else unlucky enough to get the run-around every time the attempt is made to reunite.... 50% of taken children never return, despite no crime...
