Damaged

Damaged people are strongest,
because they've learned to survive.
When times are darkest,
they're the ones that thrive.

Only when your thrown to the bottom,
can you learn to pull yourself up.
When your almost always out of coffee,
you gotta learn to fill your own cup.

They say it's always darkest,
before you reach the dawn.
You must first be the ugly duckling,
before you can transform into a swan.

So lessons learned must be the grand prize,
for the few that actually do win.
Those that have fought the hardest battles,
and waged the war against sin.

Those that's lives have been tormented
are harder to love some might say.
Because they have been hurt before,
and seem to push others away.

But if you love the unlovable,
the imperfect and tragic soul.
You must prove you won't abandon them.
Or try to take all control.

You'll see that the ones with scars,
scars that tell their tale.
The ones with imperfections,
that have fought hard to win fail after fail.

Well those are the ones that love hardest,
with everything In their being.
When they know they can truly trust you,
and it's the real you that they're seeing.

They will never let you down,
They'll have you're back 100 percent.
You will feel unconditional love,
the kind that's heaven sent.

Because it's so hard for the damaged ones,
to put their injured hearts on the line.
When they've been abused, betrayed, and let down
time after time after time.

Don't judge the things they've done or said,
or even what they have been through.
Look past the anger and hurt In their eyes,
and give them a chance to love you.
