Downtown Diptych
From Eleventh floor
traverse the obscure urban valley 'tween towers
linger awhile in the shady rooftop Eden
then up, up into the gray, white, and blue afternoon sky
Twenty five panes over, three panes down
fluffy white clouds, blue peeking through
portrait of sky on mirrored canvas
three story easel

Author's Note
Inspired by the "Your Sky" competition. Wrote this in my comment to Asouladareatease, Working in a forest of skyscrapers I have to find nature peering between man-planted monoliths. I do have a view of a nice rooftop garden...thank goodness I have a cubicle with a view.

Thank you my friend! ! I am pleased you like this piece. After listening to your PoetCast interview I consider
you as one in tune with nature so your comment is encouraging. Working in a forest of skyscrapers I have to find nature peering between man-planted monoliths. I do have a view of a nice rooftop garden...thank goodness I have a cubicle with a view.

Oh wow, you certainly painted a very vivid imagery of your scene GW.
Even though you are trapped in tall buildings, your optimism shines through.

Thank you so much, Layla! I do feel trapped at times and especially when the weather is beautiful out.

My view of the city is one of urban blight. This is a refreshing change. Fine work!

Thank you, Soledad! I actually had to remove the glare of my office lights from the picture so it took awhile. I am always encouraged by your comments. Win or lose, I use competitions to stimulate thought when I'm in a funk.
