corner of her mind

she waits for her love to come home
hating the feeling of being locked up alone
she had such a cold hard life
she never been anybody's wife
never got the shot to roll that dice
if she had money, life would be nice
instead of living in a shack poor
never thought she could dream for more
her man works so late
never in time to eat the hot food on his plate
but in the corner of her mind
maybe she felt like she was wasting time
waiting on him to make a move
this wasn't chess or monopoly
this was her life was it really worth living?
she just needs faith in god to make it right
cuz she would hate for it to be wrong
he never kissed her lips
he just told her she was shit
but still she came running back
even when he was drunk and slapped her face
pushed her against the wall
you would think it was done
but it was never over
she waited years by his side
like a sick puppy just being abused
she took off her dress to impress him
maybe one day i'll be in the corner of her mind
but i was losing time to save her
she said she hated him but loved him at the same time
he had his arms holding her body down
she couldn't fight back or even try
tears just fell from my eyes
as i watched her live a lie
i just hope i'm in the corner of her mind.
