Trash Can Memories

Presented with a choice
I could sit and revisit trashcan
memories,  the ones that suspend
me at the waters edge,  where
trees grow apples that are rotten
to the core
A place where cracked mason
 jars filled with dead Lilly's
 are the prettiest things to
look at

I could sit and watch my battered
heart hang by a noose wrapped
with parasitic growth amongst
twisted limbs that lie naked and starving waiting for your return

I could dwell on the vision of
your mouths open to fornication unable to stave your desire
While your flaccid bone begs
for me calling my name

I could but I will not
I have chosen to forgive
Forgiveness holds no place for
anger or wrath
I believe I am an overcomer

What I believe to be truth
is truth
My mind brings forth thoughts
that develops emotion
Love or fear nothing else

I choose love
My feelings determine my
belief I believe in myself and
I believe in love
I desire the calm
that I require
therefore it is mine

With love and understanding
I will overcome pain
Sorrow and heartache
To dwell on infidelity will
destroy me
Simply put I will not allow you
 to  destroy me

I am worth more than that
