From Mouse to Man
we started as kingdoms
the strong and the worthy
agreeing to one treaty
children sang in the streets
the markets thrived with wealth
people finally felt at ease
a king with his queen
having big dreams
but views begun to shift
you got corrupted with power
cared too much about building towers
took from the poor and gave to the rich
I tried with my reasoning
met only with constant resistance
you pushed me right out the picture
while I cowered in silence
felt broken, ashamed
downing in my own self-misery
the thought of the helpless dying
brought-forth in me a reason for fighting
gathering with people who felt just like me
and that’s when this
(lalalala)
and that’s when this
(lalalalalala)
and that’s when this... ends
as the walls came down
the streets running with blood
screams echoed all around
tell me, what did you think?
with this lions look in my eyes
rising my sword toward your tyranny
changing from mouse into a man

Wow, man! I just read this again and I decided to comment since I see no one else has. This is really vivid and moving... even if your story is fiction - it is rife with elements of truth. Power often DOES lead to corruption, and war is a very real topic.
I think you did a very good job here... keep up the great writing, Devils!

Thank you very much 🙂. War is an ugly thing and I wanted to write something in fiction, but that also works as a warning. I think we all want the same thing but I think views get foggy. Also some get power hungry even at the smallest levels. Right is right and wrong is wrong. That is something we all can feel within us.

Loved it a lot, reminds me a lot from the true story of braveheart. Royalties stealing so much from the poor and also the newly brides to rape before the grooms can then have those rightful chance is just horrible.
But its what it was and that's why William Wallace fought till the end to stand for freedom and preferred to die to be with his beloved late wife and be happy in the afterlife.
Very heartbreaking but a learning piece of history. Truly beautiful to read in a poem story.
