My garden has a motorway

The edge of my boot flips
a flat garden rock,
I look down on
motorway construction,

JCB woodlice
ripple caterpillar tracks,
earth worms cut new roads
oily black beetles,
tip tarmac

Ants are digging drains,
four just stood looking at a hole,
wearing egg white
hi vis vests.
