Emotion Called Love
Love
An emotion I yearned for
For so many years
I waited as my heart tore
And watched as backs turned
Felt the glares on my back
Heard the whispering
I cried myself to sleep every night
And sometimes thought how better
It would be
If I just
Died
I had no family
No friends
No un-rounded corners or bends
But then they came along
The people who really cared
About who I was
Love
It was instantaneous when I saw them
Even if I confused it
With something else
It was always there
Especially for those two
Who are my comrades
My best buddies
I may not be the best guy
But I’m not the worst, either
So all those years of hate
The whispers
The glares
The turned backs
Mean nothing anymore
I now realize
That they have molded me
To be more excepting
To not take that emotion for granted
The emotion they call
Love
An emotion I yearned for
For so many years
I waited as my heart tore
And watched as backs turned
Felt the glares on my back
Heard the whispering
I cried myself to sleep every night
And sometimes thought how better
It would be
If I just
Died
I had no family
No friends
No un-rounded corners or bends
But then they came along
The people who really cared
About who I was
Love
It was instantaneous when I saw them
Even if I confused it
With something else
It was always there
Especially for those two
Who are my comrades
My best buddies
I may not be the best guy
But I’m not the worst, either
So all those years of hate
The whispers
The glares
The turned backs
Mean nothing anymore
I now realize
That they have molded me
To be more excepting
To not take that emotion for granted
The emotion they call
Love
