May Cause Drowsiness
Consuming far too many pills
Going back for more refills
The doctor and the pharmacy
Seem to think they set me free
But the symptoms do persist
And drug abuse? I must resist
One more of my preferred med
Will guarantee I'll end up dead
Most of them just induce sleep
What I dream, so may I reap
Better than the waking hours
The loss of strength, diminished powers
But I lay still in the night
Taking heart, if not delight
Knowing that I will discover
A means by which I will recover.
