impoetency--when one ink goes blind
You can change your world by changing your words....
Remember, death and life are in the power of the tongue.—Joel Osteen
can the poet’s pen lie
even before its ink is dry
can his canvas disguise
truths that are hidden from the wise
will he scribble deceit
that swells with passions underneath
will his spill drown a man
whose puddles small feet cannot span
in a world avowed wild
how can the poet’s tongue be vile
is there no symmetry
to rule his lines of poetry
or must subtle iambs
trip on the feet of lyric jambs
is the poet’s heart pained
by golden silence unattained
where no words can move
injustice or men’s lot improve
does his imagery climb
much higher than the lowest limb
where its preeminence
can give the broken second-chance
does the poet’s ink stain
life’s pages yet achieve no gain
are his lyrics contrived
to keep a dying world alive
that the soul may find rest
through rhymes that pass the acid test
may your poetency
find compromise with urgency
for when one ink goes blind
the muse lies dead for all mankind
