Image for the poem the dappled dawn

the dappled dawn

the dappled dawn stretched and yawn
as her warmth spread over the hazy morn
waking her children as she go
the trees heavily laden with dew
reached skyward for her first touch

she smiled inside herself she knew
they understood her the best
eagerly awaiting her presence to usher back the chill night
whispering words of encouragement to her sleepy children

they understood the language of the dawn
the mortals could not know
though they study her steps closely
she was alive
a part of all that draw breath
coded in their DNA
she was their Mother

the angels busily dress the dawn
each and every morning
decorating her glory
they know her importance
she is a reminder of him...her beloved
by his countenance, she shines

gracefully her light separates the day from the night
her misty morns washing away the dirt of the previous day
making everything shiny and new by first blush
it is always darkest before the dawn
a beautiful message to hang on

the dappled dawn rose upon me
misting me with her grace
today is a new day
I am hopeful
