Pain

I peer into the broken shards of the girl,
I used to know.
I see her standing there,
In pain,
No where left to go.

Hearts bound,
And hands tied.
Words came to me not,
No matter how hard I tried.

I cry not for what I see,
But I mourn inside for that girl I once knew.
I lean in closer, I reach out to touch her,
But only to find a clue.

I can see it now,
The picture painted clear.
She's alone and she's scared,
Her life consumed by fear.

She puts on a face,
Lets no one get through.
But that's just how it was,
Until she met you.

You tore down her walls,
And showed her how to love.
That pain is only temporary,
And she can always rise above.

She bears the smiles,
Etched by your name.
And thanks to you,
She'll never be the same.
