Gnashing Teeth and a Thrashing Heart
I held out my hand, a heart in the palm
Beating and fresh, steady and calm
Sniffing it, inspecting the delicacy
You hold it under a facade of words.
I’m enticed and intrigued, but there is no need
For me to keep this heart of mine
I handed it to you, soft and sweet
It danced to the rhythmic of each little beat
But you, foul creature
Have bitten it clean
Blood billowing out like thick, scarlet smoke
Dripping and dripping, pooling from beneath
The heart lays swollen and still
I’m gasping, this mustn’t be true
You bit the only hand that fed you.
Beating and fresh, steady and calm
Sniffing it, inspecting the delicacy
You hold it under a facade of words.
I’m enticed and intrigued, but there is no need
For me to keep this heart of mine
I handed it to you, soft and sweet
It danced to the rhythmic of each little beat
But you, foul creature
Have bitten it clean
Blood billowing out like thick, scarlet smoke
Dripping and dripping, pooling from beneath
The heart lays swollen and still
I’m gasping, this mustn’t be true
You bit the only hand that fed you.
