Time Stand Still

All of the hours I've spent
All of the days that have gone
Wondering where the time went
There are wrinkles around my eyes

Coffee grows cold as my breath steams around me
The nights grow increasingly long
Waiting for light seems a full time job
Insomniacs round the world working beside me

Time seems incredibly slow in the nighttime
The days go flashing on by
The winter winds wait round the corner from me
Stealing the warmth in a seasonal crime

The lines in my face grow increasingly deep
Time like a thief in the night
Wishing for power against the spinning of clockworks
Even my memories aren't mine to keep

Wheel within wheel the stars spin in the night
The planets are playthings the dance in the sky
Wait for the one star that means life to us
To spring up incredibly bright

Day after day we do as we will
Hardly noticing time going by
Then near the end of this whirling wheel dance
Wish that time would stand still
