A false divide indeed, as the (attempted) revival of Goethean science also reveals. Ada Lovelace was another new introduction from you to an interesting person - Thank you for that. Possibly it stems from a view of whether humans (with or without science & technology) are here on planet Earth fundamentally to co-operate, or dominate.

Thanks for taking the time and trouble to comment on my scribbles, Josh.  As to Ada ... I've been reading a lot of Byron of late and seen the difference engine in the science museum.  As to why we're here ... to create!!!!  Objects, poems, art, science, ...

I agree with 'here to create' - it releases new energy into the world - which I reckon, 'the system' lives off (ironically) and tries to comandeer, own and possess it - thereby killing the goose that lays the golden egg.
