Subservient
The only time
I am free
is when sitting
in the dark
You think I’m sleeping
or maybe reading
but I lie awake here
every night
I shroud myself
in daytime
lay bidding to
your master plans
I’ll lose sleep
to escape this nightmare
and I’ll be free of you
in the end

Indeed. I wrote this poem when I first joined DU. Since I had no freedom, I would spend my nights in bed on DU on my phone, hiding under the covers, while my husband at the time slept on the couch. It was the only way I could express myself.
