where i stand
standing here for what feels like an eternity
too afraid to contemplate my own fate
for so long you played me like a plague
like acid rain washed your face away
once ingrained in my brain
your memory is a haze
that i can’t completely erase
today finally came the day
that i no longer throw my heart away
broke free from the chains
you forcefully tied to me
no longer restrained
with this strain of decay
even if my bones may break
cast your shadow of doubt
instead of wasting away
i’ll find my way out
i let your palace of malice
parading around as true romance
burn at my own expense
flames in the moonlight remind me
of aurora borealis midnight dance
you took everything from me
stole all my dignity
i find beauty in the cruelty & pain
left me hollow, numb, & cold
either i erode & implode or let go
i don’t fear what i’ve done
i don’t care enough to run
i don’t know where i’m going
all i know is where i’ve been
where i stood i’ll never stand again
too afraid to contemplate my own fate
for so long you played me like a plague
like acid rain washed your face away
once ingrained in my brain
your memory is a haze
that i can’t completely erase
today finally came the day
that i no longer throw my heart away
broke free from the chains
you forcefully tied to me
no longer restrained
with this strain of decay
even if my bones may break
cast your shadow of doubt
instead of wasting away
i’ll find my way out
i let your palace of malice
parading around as true romance
burn at my own expense
flames in the moonlight remind me
of aurora borealis midnight dance
you took everything from me
stole all my dignity
i find beauty in the cruelty & pain
left me hollow, numb, & cold
either i erode & implode or let go
i don’t fear what i’ve done
i don’t care enough to run
i don’t know where i’m going
