A Summertime-Winter
I've been taking it all in,
listening to the rain,
milling over my options
trying to earn forgiveness - more internal than anywhere else,
trying to close old wounds.

Rain has been biblical. I was in Cornwall camping last week and the weather was unbelievable under canvas. Bad time to be in a tent.
It does force you to look inwards however. There’s always something melancholic about the rain. That may just be the English woman in me talking.
Really beautifully written. And yes, if you need to hear it today, you’re doing just fine, chick.

The winter in summer and rain provide a backdrop of self induced isolation reinforcing the solitudinal act of retreating inward.
"trying to close old wounds.
I think I'm doing ok,
I think I'm doing ok."
I think these lines would be better served with a pause; clustered together with the comma lends to a manic, panicked inner dialogue. A stop and pause would otherwise pave the way for the effect of honest self examination.
