The Princess Dies In This One

The radio plays
static and ice cream
faded summer days
and I don't remember
the love of my mother
she was never allowed
to hold me anyways

I was a princess
and I played with the faeries
that danced with me
in the backyard
a warrioress
in dresses I hated
and I loved my Xena
but never knew someday
life would get so hard

Oh where is the time?
Now I'm a liar
a ghost of a daughter
a wild creature
that screams in the night

Oh where is the time?
Now I'm a wretch
a bitch with no master
a starving thing
that can't get enough

Diamonds of plastic
dresses so cold and so black
eyeliner to mask this ache
and I am still a princess
but my tiara is fake
this smile is no small task

My kingdom is seventy proof
ninety down the highway
remnants of my heart
strapped to this
Honda Civic's roof
and I want it all to go away
I want it all to go away
can you take it away?

Oh where is the time?
Now I'm a liar
a ghost of a daughter
a wild creature
that screams in the night

Oh where is the time?
Now I'm a wretch
a bitch with no master
a starving thing
that can't get enough

I was a princess
I was a beautiful girl
I was a princess
I was your girl

I was a princess
I was loving the world
I was a princess
such a stupid, foolish girl

I was a princess
