The Summer of Love
It was the summer of love
heat captured 'round every corner
wide eye morning winks and blushed nights
no filter of pretty pink sunsets
or orange hues of hidden moonlit bliss
there were kisses under plum trees
and sun soaked soliloquies swimming down stream
life didn't hesitate, we just screamed
and screwed
what ever was the plan
you took my heart and I your hand
things, grand
as we frolicked in the sand and surf
not knowing how much it was really worth
until
it was gone
and now alone
standing naked in the Fall
looking back
awaiting Winter to take it all
heat captured 'round every corner
wide eye morning winks and blushed nights
no filter of pretty pink sunsets
or orange hues of hidden moonlit bliss
there were kisses under plum trees
and sun soaked soliloquies swimming down stream
life didn't hesitate, we just screamed
and screwed
what ever was the plan
you took my heart and I your hand
things, grand
as we frolicked in the sand and surf
not knowing how much it was really worth
until
it was gone
and now alone
standing naked in the Fall
looking back
awaiting Winter to take it all
